Dear Thomas K. Swoboda, MD, MS,

The United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) program is in the process of surveying people at a variety of educational and professional levels to collect opinions about current USMLE pass/fail standards. This information is central to the deliberations of the USMLE Step committees as they consider appropriate pass/fail standards for each Step examination. You are receiving this email because we would value the opinions of certain staff at your institution, specifically, deans of academic and student affairs, basic science course directors, clinical clerkship directors, and/or any other faculty who fill these roles but have different titles.

Please forward this email with the survey link below to the appropriate faculty. Participation in the survey will require only a few minutes of their time. They need only to click on the link below or copy and paste it into their web browser address bar.

We would appreciate your responses by Friday April 7, 2017.

If you have any questions or concerns, or if any problems are experienced accessing the survey, please reply to this email or contact us at USMLESurvey at nbme.org.

Be assured that all responses will be kept confidential; only aggregate results will be reported. Thank you in advance for your willingness to help in the collection of opinions on this topic and for your contribution to ensuring that the USMLE standard setting process is well informed.

Sincerely,

Gerard F. Dillon, PhD
Vice President, Licensure Programs
