Deans,
After consultation with the university officials and considering New York state directives, we are cancelling on-campus, in-person instruction for Monday, January 26. Faculty may elect to move instruction to remote platforms. Clinical students are expected to contact their sites for guidance on instructional activity for clerkships and clinical electives. The message below is being sent to students at 5 p.m. today. We ask that you distribute this message broadly to your faculty, course administrators, and team so they can plan and communicate appropriately for both didactic and clinical courses on Monday, January 26. It is important that you ask your faculty to provide clear direction to students regarding their instructional plans for Monday, January 26.

To the Upstate University Student Community,
Due to the impending winter weather please use the following guidance:
Academic/Didactic Students:

  *   There will be no in-person classes on Upstate University campuses for Monday, January 26.
  *   Faculty may elect to hold classes virtually. Please check your university email and course management portals (Brightspace/Canvas) for specific updates from your instructors regarding remote sessions.
Clinical Site Students:

  *   Students currently in clinical settings should contact their clerkship administrators, clinical instructors, and/or site supervisors directly for guidance on attendance.
Unimpacted/Remote Students:

  *   Remote/Unimpacted Students: Students who are currently in locations not impacted by this weather event are expected to continue their academic schedule as assigned.
Please prioritize your safety and stay tuned to official university channels for any further updates.
