PROGRAM OVERVIEW: The Health Emergency Management VIRTUAL Seminar - Trauma Management for Rural EMS And Community Hospitals (Trauma REACH) is designed to better prepare hospital and non-hospital response partners in planning, mitigating, responding to and recovering from natural and man-made disasters that impact the delivery of health care in a community or impact the environment of care for responders. The goal of the 2021 virtual seminar is to enhance knowledge in the management of multi-injured patients and to understand the importance of working as a team of professionals in caring for patients with life-threatening traumatic injuries in the rural EMS setting and community hospitals. Relevant information and stimulated discussions will focus on best practices in the management of trauma/disaster patients.

Trauma Outreach and Education Coordinator - Upstate University Hospital
Objectives:
o   Identify the types of falls commonly associated with specific age groups to include pediatrics and elderly adults.
o   Describe the injuries typically associated with the above fall types.
o   Identify fall patients who should be treated at a Trauma Center based upon the CDC's 2011 Guidelines or Field Triage of Injured Patients, New York State Basic Life Support Adult and Pediatric Treatment Protocols and Collaborative Advanced Life Support Adult and Pediatric Treatment Protocols.
ACCREDITATION/CERTIFICATION:
This seminar is a NYSDOH OHEP Pre-Approved Training

A Certificate of Attendance for each session will be available to all attendees that complete a post-session evaluation.

This activity has been approved by NYS BEMS for EMS CME Core and Non-Core Credits.  EMS CME Credits available for each session will be listed on the Certificate of Attendance.

Regional Training Center (RTC) Grant funds are available to cover the cost of CME for appropriate Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Coalition (HEPC) attendees that work in the Western, Central New York, Capital District and Metropolitan Area Regions of NYS (excluding NYC). We ask that you only request CME if your NYS Licensed Profession requires continuing medical education for license/certification renewal. This may include physicians, mid-level providers and nurses.


ACCREDITATION: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Erie County Medical Center, John R.
