Radiology Update- improved way to view studies directly within Epic

The radiology change announced last week will go live tomorrow.

Highlights of the change are:

• Epic-centric workflow: you can open and view studies from within Epic (instead of launching Synapse)
    • When you are viewing results (radiology reads), clicking the link in the results directly opens the study within a new Epic viewer.
    • A new button (“Imaging”- located on the imaging tab in chart review) and a new inpatient activity (“Imaging”- star it to add permnately to your activity list) opens the new viewer and shows all studies for the MRN of the open chart.
    • A button at the top of the screen (in the toolbar) allows you to open the new viewer (called “SynMobility”) and search for studies. You would use this to find studies by patient name, for example. This is the tool to use when you want to view studies in Syntemp (since Syntemp studies don’t have MRNs to search).
        • Note: this button is still a work in progress and will work but, at this time will need you to enter your password and username. We hope to have this rectified soon but did not want to hold up getting these improvements to you.

Please see the Epigram sent last week for more details and, also, please be on the look out today for tip sheets on how to use the new buttons and activities, and how to use the new viewer.

Reminder: Synapse is not going away and is still present to use if you find that workflow fits your practice.
