[epicproviders] Effective March 1 - Shared Patient Notes by Default

The 21st Century Cures Act required CMS and ONC to develop regulations to improve interoperability and patient access to electronic health information and deter information blocking. These regulations have a significant impact on the release of clinical notes at Upstate. Upstate formed an Auto Notes Workgroup to address compliance and develop functionality consistent with these regulations.

On behalf of the Auto Notes Workgroup, IMT is providing the attached Tips & Tricks Sheet which outlines the Epic functionality for how notes are automatically shared and how providers can prevent notes from being shared in the event it is necessary.

Go live for this functionality is Monday, March 1st, 2021 @ 6am. At go live, all identified note types in the attached document will begin to automatically go to the patient's MyChart portal unless the provider selects not to share the note. This functionality is specific only to credentialed providers (MDs, NP's, PA's, Midwives, Residents, Medical Students, etc.) at this time.
