Upgrade/Changes are Coming
There will be significant upgrades to Epic over the next year. These changes will require your attention and participation to be successful.

Epic provides quarterly updates- we add these to our system twice a year (Spring and Fall Upgrades). There will also be some changes that we will make independent of these times.

This year there will be an additional large implementation: Hyperdrive.

Hyperdrive is Epic’s conversion to a new/modern software base. They are changing to web based code. This change will allow for more flexibility, less clicks, more speed and efficiency, and allow the system to be ready for future needs. Ultimately, this will make Epic easier and faster to use!

To ensure personal success with changes please make a point to look at all notices from the upgrade and training teams. Larger changes will be in the playground so you can become familiar with them before you need them for patient care.

Fall Upgrade- Dec 10
The most significant change in this update is a change to the Inbox.  Changes to the inbox are coming that will make it easier to find and complete items, more efficient to use, and easier to customize to how you work. Please familiarize yourself with this change prior to Dec. 10.

Future Upgrades
In addition to the Fall upgrade, Spring and Hyperdrive upgrades there are other significant changes coming to improve patient care and  make your workflow easier.

Some projects that we are working on:

  *   DNR orders will become fully electronic (other than a Molst, if necessary).  The paper forms for in-hospital DNR orders will become part of the Epic order (est January go-live)
  *   Telemedicine: we are working on a project that will incorporate video visits directly into Epic (no extra software needed) and be easier for patients to use.
  *   Electronic Consents- moving consents from paper to completion in Epic with patients signing  electronically.
  *   And more!
