Simplifying IR Ordering (Available on June 5)
Ordering IR procedures has often been frustrating. There are numerous orders that are highly specific. It is common that providers choose similar but wrong orders resulting in the need for a phone call, a clarification, and a need to write replacement orders.

To simplify IR ordering, IR orders will be reduced from 227 specific orders to just 14 generic orders. Providers will place one of these 14 orders and complete the reason for exam question within. IR will review the order, determine the best procedure to accomplish
the care requested. IR will then change the order to the required specific order within Epic. To aid in the process, the ordering provider can see the status of the order while IR is processing it (seen in chart review).
