<p class="MsoNormal">Based on a QI initiative to promote subsequent thyroid testing in hospitalized patient, rather than blanketed testing, modifications are being made which are approved by the Department of Endocrinology.

<p class="MsoNormal">This targeted and stepwise approach to thyroid testing is recommended rather than ordering multiple tests simultaneously. Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) should be the initial screening test as it serves as the most reliable marker of
thyroid function in most cases. <o:p></o:p></p>

lists are adjusted to have LAB8954 Thyroid Function Algorithm replace LAB129 TSH.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
