To comply with current regulations, the Physical Plant Electronics personnel will be conducting a monthly test of the "Code Blue" portion of the nurse call system in the East Wing and Gamma Knife. This test will affect all patient headwalls in the East Wing and 3E MRI. 3E MRI, GAMMA KNIFE, & 3W Interventional Radiology-CODE BLUE TEST PROCEDURE: 1. Physical Plant personnel will report to the nurses? station to announce that they will be conducting "Code Blue" testing and to see if there are any rooms that have special restrictions. The test will be announced over the paging system fifteen minutes prior to the test (4:45AM). 2. Physical Plant personnel will then proceed with the test starting with the first room on the unit and proceeding down the hall until finished with the unit. When the testing on the unit is finished, a notification will be given to the appropriate nursing staff. 3. Plant Electronics technicians will proceed with testing until all units are tested. The order is to be as follows: - 3E MRI - Gamma Knife - 3W Interventional Radiology 4. When all testing is completed and the nursing staff is notified, the test will then be over. Completion of the test will be announced over the paging system. NOTE: To comply with current regulations, this test must be done. Any rooms that cannot be tested at this time must be noted along with the reason why and an attempt will be made to test later. THE EAST TOWER GENERATOR TEST PROCEDURES ARE AS FOLLOWS: ? The test will be announced over the paging system fifteen minutes prior to the test (5:00AM). ? The emergency generators will be started between 5:00AM and 5:05AM and used as the source for the emergency power feed for approximately 60 minutes. ? Emergency power will be switched back to the electrical feed between 6:35AM and 6:45AM when the generators are turned off. ? Completion of the test will be announced over the paging system. ? Users of emergency power will notice a series of sequential blinks at the beginning of the East Tower test (one per electrical zone) as each of the 14 emergency power switches are engaged. At the end of the test, all areas will blink (yellow) as the switches return their respective areas to normal power. ? Elevators in the East Tower may stop and start during power transition. If an unavoidable emergency arises close to the time that the emergency generator test is scheduled and you feel that a brief power interruption would be detrimental to patient care, immediately contact the Maintenance Operations Center at 4-4230. The test, although intended to simulate an actual power outage, has been modified to keep the disruption to Hospital services at a minimum. If an actual power outage occurs, the electrical circuits supported by the generator will be without power for 5 to 10 seconds except for those areas which have their own uninterruptible power supplies. Our recent experience suggests that a real power outage can be expected once a year. If you have equipment, processes, etc. that cannot cope with a power outage of this duration, your department should consider installing uninterruptible power supplies (UPS's). Message-ID: Good afternoon, The OR7 contractor needs to perform a shutdown on the reheat loop that serves all rooms in the East Wing floors 2-6. This shutdown is needed to facilitate the replacement of the reheat coil line in rm E5622B. We have scheduled this work to begin on Tuesday, 05/05/26 at 2200, with an estimated completion time of 0400 on 05/06/26. During this shutdown, we will have limited control over individual room temperatures, but we should be able to make most adjustments with the fan systems for minimal impact. This will also affect the Main ORs on the 5th floor and the Burn Unit on the 6th floor. We should be able to accommodate any temp adjustments needed for emergency cases in the ORs as needed.
