[LabUpdates] Lab Formulary Committee Updates - Respiratory Panel with COVID

Medicine and laboratory testing are constantly changing. In an attempt to keep us all on the same page, the Laboratory Formulary Committee will be regularly sending out emails with recent updates and guidances. Below is the short version of relevant change and attached is a more in-depth guidance.

COVID included in Respiratory Pathogen Panel: The molecular panel Microbiology uses to detect respiratory viruses and select bacteria (Respiratory Pathogen Panel, LAB9285) is no longer being manufactured without SARS CoV-2. Therefore, beginning September 19, 2022, all Respiratory Pathogen Panel orders will include SARS CoV-2 within a new order code (LAB9750). Current panel results remain unchanged, but the SARS CoV-2 result will be included in the same report. Stand-alone SARS CoV-2 testing is still available but is unnecessary if a Respiratory Pathogen Panel has been ordered.
