[LabUpdates] Laboratory Formulary Committee Updates - TEG Interpretation change and Lactose Tolerance Testing change

Medicine and laboratory testing are constantly changing.  The Laboratory Formulary Committee regularly sends out emails with new updates and changes.

TEG Interpretation Changes:  TEG testing is a global evaluation of clotting with 3 different tests available: TEG Global Hemostasis with Lysis (LAB9865), TEG Global Hemostasis with Heparinase (LAB9866), and TEG Platelet Mapping (LAB9867).  Real-time data should be accessed via TEG Viewer software accessible via the link in Epic (users unable to log into this site with their Upstate credentials should contact IMT HelpDesk<https://www.upstate.edu/imt/intra/helpdesk/index.php>).  Interpretation aids are now generated within the TEG Viewer system and starting Monday Feb 24 formal interpretations will be entered 8am-5pm daily.  For interpretation assistance, contact the on-call Transfusion Medicine attending physician.  Please see the attached education for more details.  Also attached are the resources for TEG interpretation sent out previously.

Lactose Tolerance Testing: Lactose Tolerance testing (LAB2740) is no longer available at Upstate as we are no longer able to safely provide the lactose supplement.  Patients requiring this testing should be referred to LACNY or LabCorp.
