 with recent updates and guidances. Below are the short versions of relevant changes. A more in-depth resource about the change is available through the link in the description below.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Magnesium and Phosphate ordering:
</span></strong>Testing for serum magnesium and phosphate levels can be very helpful for specific patients; however, the usage of these tests at Upstate is currently well above clinical utility.  Unnecessary testing results in excess blood draws from patients
 and wasting of resources.  Similar to the change made to the BMP and CMP orders,
<b>Magnesium (LAB103)</b> and <b>Phosphate (LAB113)</b> can be ordered for a <b>maximum of 3 days</b> at any given ordering event.  These tests will be identified in expiring orders and can be reordered if needed.  For additional information, please see the
