<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Medicine and laboratory testing are constantly changing. In an attempt to keep us all on the same page, the Laboratory Formulary Committee will be regularly sending out emails

 with recent updates and guidances.  Short descriptions of the changes are below and in the attached guidances.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Glucose-6-Phosphage Dehydrogenase Deficiency Testing:</b>  Starting

<b>April 27<sup>th</sup> 2023</b>, quantitative testing for <b>Glucose-6-Phosphage Dehydrogenase Deficiency Testing

will be brought in-house.  This testing will replace the in-house qualitative testing (G6PD, Qualitative; LAB2508) and send-out quantitative testing (G6PD, Qn, Bld and Hgb; LAB9976).  This new testing will meet the new NYS testing requirement.

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>TORCH Panel Testing:</b>  Starting <b>May 4<sup>th</sup> 2023</b>, the current

<b>TORCH Panel test (LAB2903)</b> will be replaced with a true test panel – a single order

<b>Torch Panel (O392208 for inpatients, O2106660401 for outpatients)</b> which includes all 4 tests needed for TORCH Panel testing.  This will allow greater clarity for the ordering provider to know which assays are being ordered

<u>without requiring additional steps by the ordering provider</u>.  In addition, if there is a specific test of these 4 assays that does NOT need to be performed, the ordering provider may unselect that test to prevent duplicate testing.  For further information,
