<p class="xxxxmsonormal"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Segoe UI",sans-serif">Medicine and laboratory testing are constantly changing. The Laboratory Formulary Committee regularly sends out emails with new updates and changes. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xxmsonormal"><b><span style="color:black"> </span></b><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xxxxmsonormal"><b><span style="color:black">Beaker go-live change in Laboratory orders</span></b><span style="color:black">: Starting
<b>June 21<sup>st</sup></b>, the laboratory will transition to a new Laboratory Information System (Beaker). This change will allow significant improvement in testing communication, tracking, and reporting. Most of the changes will
<b>not</b> affect how orders are placed in Epic. Three changes <b>will </b>affect how some laboratory testing orders are placed:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<ol style="margin-top:0in" start="1" type="1">
<li class="xxxxmsonormal" style="color:black;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Generic orders that have been used to order multiple different tests will be replaced with specific Epic orders. This will avoid confusion on exactly what testing is being requested. Please
see the attached guidance “<b>ALL PROV Beaker Retiring & New AP Orders</b>” to review which orders are affected and which replacement orders will be active.
<u>Any provider with these orders on their <b>Preference List Orders</b> will need to update their preference list</u>. The attached tipsheet “<b>ip_add_edit_preference_lists_orders</b>” explains how to make these updates.<o:p></o:p></li><li class="xxxxmsonormal" style="color:black;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Samples submitted to the laboratory require a
<b>sample type</b> (what is being submitted) and <b>source</b> (where did it come from). The list of types and sources have been revised and vetted to ensure the lists of both are as inclusive as possible while also being useful. For more details, please
see the tipsheet “<b>Provider – Beaker Implementation SUB</b>” for more details.<o:p></o:p></li><li class="xxxxmsonormal" style="color:black;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">There is an option built into most laboratory tests to allow testing to be added on to a previously collected specimen. This option will only be available if the system sees an appropriate
