Hi Everyone,

As you may recall from my email before the holidays, a few of us in the program met to discuss a graduate school-sponsored event in which us, the MD/PhD students, will invite a clinician-scientist speaker to come to Upstate. Our goals are to expose us to different clinician-scientist careers, as well as give us an opportunity to network with potential future colleagues / mentors. We are on an accelerated timeline for this year, as we will invite the speaker to come in May. Ultimately, we hope to establish this as an annual event.

We will be meeting again on Monday January 6 at 3:30 pm in 3213 Weiskotten Hall. ALL ARE WELCOME! At this meeting we will finalize our ranked list of clinician-scientist invitees. Feel free to come and help evaluate the options that will be presented. If you would like to suggest someone to invite, please come prepared to tell us about this person, and explain why he or she would be a good choice. Each student will be able to contribute a maximum of 2 potential speakers. Those with extensive experience training MD/PhDs at the residency or fellowship level will be given high priority.

Hope to see many of you Monday,
Liam
