Good afternoon,

The feedback is really good but keep it coming! Don’t make me resort to public shaming…

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone! Enjoy the sun.

Let’s step up the presentation feedback game. I’m not going to lie…it’s collectively grown sparse and a bit dull in respect to specificity. At the minimum, please avoid one-two descriptive word(s) such as “good engagement.” Any and all details or examples with a small degree of additional elaboration is appreciated.

Useful Feedback (can negate any of these examples to be constructive)

Made big ideas brief and concise. For example…

Evident that the presenter is knowledgeable on (insert subject matter)

Indicated interesting details such as…

Used relevant visual illustrations (images, charts graphs, etc.)

Organized and structured text/slides well

Able to explain (insert the complex topic here) in various, understandable ways

Made clear statements about the essence/results of the (enter the topic/research here)

Communicated ideas on (insert subject matter here) in a clear, concise and concrete way

Connected well with audience (give example- eye contact, body language, projected voice, etc)

Good physical communication, including effective use of the presentation space and/or body language

Delivered content with appropriate amount of humor/poise/candor

Visual elements, such as (insert examples here like slides, infographics, graphs), were brief, clear and visually effective

Had an awareness of strengths and weaknesses (such as…) and lead with strengths

Had the ability to adapt as needed during presentation (example would be helpful)

Presentation had an organized flow that fit time constraints

Not Terribly Useful Feedback:

Good engagement

Speak louder

Nothing really

Font was small

Top Tier Examples of Feedback:

Be prepared to have some explanations that describe your unexpected results. Sometimes they truly are unexpected but is it due to an artifact or a biological phenomenon? How would you plan on distinguishing the two?

Comparing your method to something that already exists may help some audience relate. For example…

Move on slightly faster if audience prompt is unsuccessful
At times, you may have moved the discussion a little bit forward to be able to hit all the intended subjects
I think the extracted data could have been brought together better at the end as I couldn’t follow the end conclusion without having a background in the research.
Led the audience in a way that brought discussion and involvement into the presentation
Set up the rationale for the paper very well
