Message from Rafi:
Hello colleagues and friends,
Looking forward to seeing you at grand rounds on Thursday!
This week's rounds will be a two-parter; the first half will be devoted to a clinical case. The case reaches a diagnosis thanks to a unique, relatively novel diagnostic assay.
Then, we will shift our focus to innovations and history that allowed this diagnostic assay (which involves DNA sequencing) to make it into clinical use.
Initially, I had been considering one of the first key papers that used the illumina "sequencing by synthesis" technology.
However, for recommended reading I am instead sharing this magazine article, which details the story of the invention of the technology: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.bio-itworld.com/news/2010/09/30/the-solexa-story__;!!GobTDDpD7A!L0bQWp65MPuSv0P5Eykcvm21IIrG1VSoyLsCbNYfz6LtQa9IjLBpvvZNGa-nauXe-VYvkAknpHkCtEuYSzP7nZ86uQ$ <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.bio-itworld.com/news/2010/09/30/the-solexa-story__;!!GobTDDpD7A!IkbSqmKF3IBSJVFUO_9DLv6xFJMfuunrOI4uuw6Q1cTjrp9bfPJU-08Q4VvXV9zkqUI6bJVZvQJvDgsQpVaRpaFH4A$>
