Hi Everyone,

Thank you for all of the interest that has been shown for the Peer Med Mentor Program! I hope everyone has been able to connect to their mentor and mentee these past couple of weeks and it is going well. I’m here to support both the mentor and mentee throughout the year, so please reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

With this mentorship program we really want to emphasize building connections between classes. That means supporting one another academically, but also interacting and spending time with one another socially. Therefore, in addition to your one-on-one meetings as mentor/mentee pairs we will also be holding events throughout the year to foster community between the classes. These events are open to students in each class who have/are participating in the peer mentoring program. Our hope is that these connections you are making do not end after the first year but can continue to grow and be additional support systems throughout your 4 years at Upstate. Through this program we are creating pockets of smaller communities within our large community consisting of members from each class with their own experiences and insights which can be passed to the next class easing the transition into each new year.

Therefore, to kick off this new year our first event will be a MIXER at Harvey’s Garden on Thursday, November 7th at 6pm! Each attendee will receive a voucher for a personal pizza and dessert.
