Hello Everyone,
The Office of Student Admissions is hosting the 13 Annual SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference (SURC) on Friday, April 24, 2026. We anticipate welcoming approximately 500 undergraduate students and faculty mentors from SUNY campuses across the state for a full day of programming, including student oral and poster presentations, a keynote speaker, the SUNY Graduate School and Career Fair, and professional development workshops for students.
We are currently seeking student volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks (see below). This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with undergraduate students interested in research, graduate programs, and medical school. Volunteers are welcome to assist for the full day, half day, or even just a few hours based on individual availability. Students interested in volunteering may complete the sign‑up form by Sunday, March 15: 2026 SURC Volunteers Sign Up – Fill out form<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://forms.office.com/r/uZaChbKwT2__;!!GobTDDpD7A!OSzqrFS4OGW63fUwJ9re46wdp-FPk3klz3g1wMrvi-n1rqjL3qIlBT4ShEVK_eXNzpmMWpuHYhdF2GOzV1Uq5dtETmRxDg$ > and indicate your available time(s) in the form.
.
Please note: All volunteers must attend one required training session either in-person or virtual:
* Wednesday, April 15, 4:00–5:00 PM (in‑person)
* Thursday, April 16, 6:00–7:00 PM (virtual)
We are seeking volunteers for the following roles:
* Campus tour guides
* Facilitate the MD simulation Kit station (demonstrating skills such as stitching and blood pressure measurement)
* Participate in the Meet & Greet admissions breakout sessions for COGS and MD.
* Oral session moderators – to introduce presenters and help ensure they stay within assigned time limits.
* General logistical support including directionals, guides, check-in assistance, and other event needs
We are very excited to host this event as it presents an outstanding recruitment opportunity for all of our graduate programs. The success of this conference will rely greatly on the support and collaboration of our volunteers and campus partners. We hope you will consider contributing to this effort, and we look forward to working together to make this event a success.
Please feel free to reach out to Shahad Aldoori at aldooris at upstate.edu<mailto:aldooris at upstate.edu> if you have further questions.
Best,
Shahad
