MED2029 Memorial Service Invitation — April 18th

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the committee, we are honored to invite you to the Upstate Anatomical Gift Program, Memorial Service. This brings together donors' families, faculty, and students among the colleges at Upstate. Performances will be given by our peers as we honor the generous gift of life that has contributed to our education.

Date: Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 1:00 pm
Location: Hendricks Chapel, Syracuse University Campus
Attire: Dress should be appropriate for the occasion. Students are asked to wear White Coats. Please refrain from wearing jeans, T-shirts, polo shirts, or shorts.

Etiquette:

Respect for the donors and courtesy to the families is of utmost concern for the assurance of their comfort at the service.

The service will start promptly at 1:00 pm. Please arrive on time.
  *
We encourage those attending to be seated as they arrive. Please do not congregate in the entrance to avoid interrupting the flow of guests into the chapel.
  *
Keep conversation to a minimum during the service and set cell phones to silent/vibrate.

At the conclusion of the service, students are encouraged to speak with family members. Students may want to express their appreciation to the guests of their loved one's gift of donation. Be very aware of the language used while speaking with guests.

Always avoid using words such as "cadaver," "dissection," etc. If discussing any lab experience, use neutral descriptors such as "studied," "investigated," etc. Please refrain from referring to the Memorial Service as a “gala”. We firmly apologize for any previous precedent we may have set that communicates this service as a gala.
