As Upstate Nursing continues to grow and evolve, we are enhancing our nursing executive leadership structure to strengthen both operational leadership and the enterprise resources that support nursing excellence across the entire organization.



As part of this new structure, I am pleased to announce the establishment of a new Department of Nursing Excellence & Strategy and the appointment of Sarah Fries as Deputy Nursing Director. Sarah will provide enterprise leadership for Nursing Excellence & Professional Practice, Recruitment & Retention, Clinical Education and Leadership Development, Nursing Informatics, Nursing Research & Evidence-Based Practice, and Nursing Strategy.



We will also recruit a Deputy Nursing Director for Community Hospital & Procedural Services, providing dedicated executive leadership to these significant clinical operations. Sarah will continue to provide leadership for these areas during the transition.



Together, these roles strengthen our ability to provide focused operational leadership while advancing the professional practice, development, and strategic priorities that support nurses across Upstate.



This evolution builds upon our foundation as a twice-designated Magnet organization and represents another important step in advancing One Team - Our Voice - Our Future.
