<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">We are currently experiencing a widespread shortage of nitroglycerin 100mg/250mL infusion bottles. This is our standard formulation for most nitroglycerin infusions.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Our only current alternative option is to utilize a 50mg/250mL infusion bottle in place of the 100mg/250mL bottles.
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">As such, beginning next week, Pharmacy at the Downtown Campus will be replacing all Nitroglycerin 100mg/250mL bottles with 50mg/250mL bottles in Pyxis. This change is currently
<u>NOT</u> affecting the Community Campus. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">Things will be set in EPIC so that this new formulation is selected, and dosing will be the same. The infusion pumps will be configured to provide the correct dose based upon this new concentration.

The nurse will not need to make manual changes to the infusion
pump. Nurse practice should largely remain the same. <o:p></o:p></span></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">The nitroglycerin bottles will remain available in same locations and be available on Pyxis override per policy. <o:p></o:p></span></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">The 0.1mg/mL concentration used predominantly in the Heart and Vascular Center is not affected and with continue to be available
