<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">The New York State Board of Nursing has issued an official alert regarding a vishing scam targeting licensees. Vishing scams use phone calls or voice messages to
trick victims into providing sensitive information. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black"> </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">Scammers have made several calls to nursing units at Upstate impersonating State Education Department employees or websites to steal personal and licensure data by
claiming nurses have disciplinary infractions. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#212121"> </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">If you remain on the call, they will eventually ask for banking or credit card information to "resolve" these issues. </span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">These scammers often use spoofing technology to make it appear as though they are calling from a legitimate office. </span><o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">The state board confirms they conduct all official business via sealed and certified mail. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
