From TanskiC at upstate.edu Tue Dec 6 16:32:03 2022 From: TanskiC at upstate.edu (Christopher Tanski) Date: Tue, 6 Dec 2022 21:32:03 +0000 Subject: [pert] PERT Update Message-ID: Hi all- As our team has grown, there was a need to formalize the structure and function of the group. At Upstate, that's done through a charter and addition to the institution's quality management structure. After discussing with Dr. Tucker, we used the charter and setup of the ECLS program as a starting point for the PERT team. While this isn't really a restart of the team, it might be more of a renewal. The charter is fairly straightforward and just provides for oversight of the program from the quality perspective. As part of this process, Dr. Costanza has agreed to lead the PERT initiative going forward. Dr. Costanza will meet with Dr. Tucker and I quarterly from the hospital administration perspective to identify resource needs. I also want to recognize and thank Asim Sharif for agreeing to be the program coordinator for PERT as well. Asim is the current program coordinator for the ECLS program and has taken on coordination for PERT as an additional duty. We had a brief meeting today to discuss this and will get some ongoing meetings scheduled. PERT is also discussed at the monthly ECLS/MCS Steering Committee to avoid having to add additional meetings to everyone's schedule. If you'd like to get invites for that meeting, please let Asim know. Here are the working items from today's meeting: 1. We will get a small group together to look at Pulsara, a communication platform the hospital has adopted for STEMI and ECLS, to see if it can be used for PERT as well. Dr. Paul made the excellent point of reminding us we spent a lot of time getting Microsoft Teams setup for us and so we'll need to be mindful working with a different platform. 2. We will get a meeting setup with Viz.ai an imaging artificial intelligent platform used by stroke. This software allows quicker recognition of PEs via CTA and possible earlier alerting of the team. 3. We need to work on the IRB proposal for the PERT Consortium to begin reporting cases. Thanks all.
