Dear colleagues,
I am very excited to announce that the Behavior Analysis Studies (BAS) Department <https://www.upstate.edu/chp/programs/behavior-analysis-studies/index.php> at SUNY Upstate Medical University is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor. The position is full time (12 month) and tenure eligible.
The BAS Department is part of Upstate Medical University’s College of Health Professions <https://www.upstate.edu/chp/index.php>, which offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a variety of healthcare professions. The BAS Department houses a one-year, in-person MS program that prepares students for success in the field of applied behavior analysis through a combination of rigorous didactic instruction, structured clinical work, involvement in research, and professional-development opportunities.
Faculty in the Department partner with Upstate Medical University’s Golisano Center for Special Needs <https://www.upstate.edu/specialneeds/>(GCSN) and Biobehavioral Health Unit <https://www.upstate.edu/specialneeds/departments/behavioral-health-inpatient.php> (BBHU) for clinical research focused on increasing the efficiency and efficacy of behavioral interventions for children. The GCSN is a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic that provides a host of medical and behavior-health services to children with many types of intellectual and developmental disabilities. Behavior-analytic services include assessment and treatment of complex behavior concerns and pediatric feeding disorders. The BBHU provides behavior-analytic and mental-health services to children on an inpatient basis and is one of only a handful of inpatient programs in the country to provide such services.
Faculty in the Department also engage in innovative translational and basic research using diverse participant populations and nonhuman-animal subjects. Basic research is conducted in the Behavior Analysis Murine Laboratory <https://www.upstate.edu/specialneeds/departments/murine-lab.php>, a rat and mouse laboratory that focuses on translational behavior-analytic research and bridge studies between behavior analysis, neuroscience, and genetics.
The successful applicant would teach classes in our MS program; oversee student research; engage in novel lines of research that complement those of existing faculty; and provide service to the Department, College, University, and/or SUNY System.
