[toxvtc] Case Conference - 6/27

Hello,

For this Thursday, we will be discussing the two following cases:


  1.  A 21 year old female presents to the emergency department with agitation and an episode of vomiting. She reports abdominal pain. On exam, her vital signs include: HR 128 beats/min, BP 90/60 mmHg, RR 30/min, T 100F, and O2 sat, 100% on room air. She has some white powder on her fingertips.
  2.  A 1 year old female presents to the emergency department after she is suspected to have taken one of her mothers medications. Her vital signs are: HR, 124 beats/min; BP, 110/69 mmHg; RR 14/min; T 36C, and 97% on Room air. Noted to be drowsy.

We will also be discussing the following two articles which are attached. Rotators, read both articles and assign one rotator to present each.

  2.  Marshall, S., Ryan, E., Rivera, J. et al. GLP-1 Receptor Agonist Exposures Are Increasingly Common and Generally Associated with Mild Symptoms: A Single Poison Center Experience. J. Med. Toxicol. (2024)

Lastly, we will be hearing two rotator presentations.
