[ImmigTaskForce] Update on Task Force Meetings

Hi everyone,

In the time since our last meeting, I’ve met with leadership in Student Affairs and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to discuss the future of the Task Force. As we’ve been discussing in our meetings, there is not much for us to do in the absence of concrete information about the needs of the students we aim to support. We also know that new issues may arise for these students, so it is important to keep the Task Force constituted so that we can respond as needed.

Our conclusion is that the Task Force should continue to exist, but should meet quarterly rather than monthly, and on an ad hoc basis as new issues are identified. We are therefore canceling the meetings for tomorrow and November 21, since we just met in September. We will continue to send monthly roundups of resources collected from various sources (e.g., the Presidents’ Alliance, FWD.us, Pre-Health Dreamers, etc.). Additionally, I will be on sabbatical from January-June 2026, so Nakeia Chambers has generously agreed to serve as the chair of this Task Force in my absence. We will meet once more this year at 2pm on December 19, and then we will plan to meet in March, June, September, and December going forward — Nakeia will arrange meeting times for 2026.
