Thanks, Sarah! A tech check sounds good. Do you have a time that would work for you that I can suggest to Alex?

Hi Sarah and Michael,
Below is the zoom meeting link and connection details for the October 16 CE.
I like both of your ideas: having the registration automatically send a link and also following up with a reminder (or two).

Separately, I would like to do a tech run-through with the presenters, preferably the day before the event.
We would use a different zoom link, and this would only need to take 15-20 minutes at most.

thank you,
Sarah H.

Hi Michael,

I don’t have a link yet, Sarah H. is working out the logistics. I don’t have a problem sending out an email to attendees with the link later on. I appreciate your attention to detail.

Thanks,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

Do you have a zoom link for the presentation or will that be provided closer to the event?
If the former, I can incorporate it into the WildApricot ticketing system to be automatically emailed to registrants; if the latter, we will need to take care to email registrants at a later date.

I probably won't have time to create this event today but I'll aim to have it done tomorrow.

All You Need to Know to Publish Your Research

Wednesday, October 16th 1:00 – 3:00 PM EST online via Zoom

This webinar aims to empower health sciences librarians to develop original research article manuscripts that will be successful in navigating the peer review process. You will gain insights from the Journal of the Medical Library Association’s (JMLA’s) editorial staff into how to draft articles that more effectively communicate the results of your research projects. During this interactive webinar, Alexander Carroll will discuss the “moves” you can make as an author to craft meaningful context and compelling descriptions of your research projects, as well as how to present your findings in a way that will resonate with reviewers and JMLA’s readership. Alexander will also share insider tips and tricks, including how to avoid some of the most common pitfalls and traps that can keep your research from reaching readers. For librarians who assist others in the publishing process, the concepts covered in this session easily translate and will improve your skillset in this area.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  * Explain the rhetorical function of each section of a research-based journal article (e.g., introduction / literature review, methods, results, and discussion)
  * Describe how these rhetorical functions can be leveraged to communicate the results of research projects more effectively
  * Identify common mistakes made by authors when drafting a journal manuscript
  * List techniques for responding to peer reviewers’ and editor’s comments effectively

Audience

This session is designed for librarians at all experience levels – no prior experience with journal publishing is required to attend. Any practitioners looking for ways to deepen their expertise in developing more effective article manuscripts, whether brand new to original research or seasoned authors, are encouraged to attend.

CE Details: Participants will receive 2 MLA credit hours.
