The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) is sponsoring a one-week screening of Picture a Scientist from March 22nd to March 26th.

The screening will be available to the entire National Institutes of Health (NIH) community to view. The link to the screening will be available on March 22nd. To RSVP to the screening and to receive a reminder email on the launch day, access the signup screen using the link above!

Save the date: A panel discussion inspired by the film will be held on April 8, 2021. The panel is designed to generate dialogue on fostering a diverse, inclusive and understanding environment for women throughout the NIH community.

About the Film:
Picture a Scientist, a Film by Sharon Shattuck and Ian Cheney is a feature-length documentary film chronicling the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. A biologist, a chemist, and a geologist lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, overcoming brutal harassment, institutional discrimination, and years of subtle slights to revolutionize the culture of science. From cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, we also encounter scientific luminaries who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all.
