Hello CHP colleagues! I am patriciate on a committee for ASAHP (The Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions) and my group is conducting a survey regarding faculty impressions of AI in the curriculum. What is unique about our survey is that we are focusing on college faculty that teach health professions. We would appreciate if you could take 5-10 min to complete this quick survey so your voice can help guide faculty development initiatives at our college and across the country.

Thanks
Bruce

Here is our conference abstract. The first wave of data will be presented this October at the national ASAHP conference in Indiana.

Generative Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Education & Research: Perceptions and Usage Patterns Among Professionals and Students
BACKGROUND: : Generative artificial intelligence (GAI) tools are becoming increasingly prevalent in higher education and healthcare. However, limited research has examined how faculty and students in health professions programs utilize these tools, their comfort levels with them, and the support they require to use AI effectively and ethically in both academic and clinical contexts.

PURPOSE: This project aims to explore how individuals in academic health settings utilize GAI tools, the platforms they engage with, their perceived risks and benefits, and the types of training that would best support their work, studies, and research.

METHODS: A survey will be distributed to faculty and students at health professions schools across the nation and will explore GAI comfort level, frequency of use, tools used, perceived importance of AI across domains, preferred formats for training, and the top five things respondents wished to know more about. Quantitative responses will be analyzed descriptively, and qualitative responses analyzed thematically.

RESULTS: Data collection is ongoing

DISCUSSION: We intend to report the respondents' opinions and inform institutional strategies and development, as well as GAI integration in healthcare education and research.
