Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to share the news that Dr. Douglas Haladay has accepted our offer to be the next Dean of the College of Health Professions. He will start on August 31. I made this announcement at today's meeting of the CHP faculty and I wanted to share the news with those who weren't at that meeting. Many of you either met Dr. Haladay during his on-campus interviews or came to his well-received presentation, and I trust you share my enthusiasm for his appointment. I want to again thank Dr. Beissner for her outstanding leadership as Dean of the College and am pleased that she will continue to work on special university projects as she leaves the dean's office.

Dr. Haladay is Professor in the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences in the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida. He served as Director of the School and Associate Dean of the College of Medicine from 2020 to 2026. In that role, he oversaw a DPT, a BS in Health and Physical Rehabilitation Science, and an online MA in Rehabilitation Counseling and Disability Sciences, and a $4.5 million annual operating budget. Under his tenure as Director and Associate Dean, the DPT program went from a ranking of 79 to 40 nationally, research expenditures went from $470,000 to over $860,000, faculty peer-reviewed publications doubled (15 to 33 per year), and he secured more than $1.5 million in philanthropic support and external resources.

He received a BS in Physical Therapy and a Master of Health Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Indianapolis, a DPT from Temple University, and a PhD in Kinesiology at Penn State. He has worked in a number of clinical settings and has had academic appointments at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, Penn State, and the University of Scranton before joining the faculty at the University of South Florida in 2013.

As we discussed today, we (each department, Doug, and me) need to intentionally plan for the success of each faculty member and each department. I am excited to work with Doug and trust you are as well.

Warm regards

Mantosh
