SecureChat Groups are Here!

You can now join and send messages to groups using SecureChat. There are 2 types of groups. Treatment teams are inpatient groups and are assigned to the patients the teams care for. Examples include teams such as the Peds Red Team. Opt-in groups are custom made (by IMT) that are helpful functional groups of people but are not directly assigned to patients. Meds to beds is one such group. Opt-in groups can be used for inpatient and outpatient care.

Joining groups:

Treatment Teams

  * Treatment teams are joined using the new sign in feature. If you log into Epic from a hospital location and are not a memeber of a team, the system will automatically prompt you to do so. Choose the team and the duration you want to be on it (a shift? Rotation?). If you specify an end time/date you will automatically be removed then. If you do not, there is a signout function you can use to remove yourself from the team. Treatment teams exist for all dirct patient care teams and consult team. Note, you can choose to add yourself to patients on the team if, for example, you are the intern/resident/NP/etc. directly responsible for the patient.
  * If you are not part of a team, add yourself to a special team (called "No Team") to quit the sign in requests.
  * Note that you can add youself to multiple groups if you care covering more then one.

Opt-in Groups

  * To add yourself to one of these groups, use the group icon within SecureChat.
  * If you have a group you would like to create, please create a project request for IMT. IMT will quickly build these.

Sending messages to groups:
You can send a message to individuals (like before) and/or groups. You can send messages to multiples of each if you like. To add a group, ennter its name in the in the new message search field and select groups from the tab of the results to your search. Add the group to the message like you added individuals before.
Important

  * Please ensure you follow messaging ettiquette. It is your responsibility to make sure that your message was recieved. Please do not send messages to individuals that have listed themselves as "not availalbe".
  * Please DO add yourself to teams you are on. With this feature we can continue to improve communications channels.

See available tip sheets for more information.
