[epicproviders] Linking Orders: Types of Links & Functionality

All Providers

Providers have the ability to link orders to help streamline the ordering process and clarify the actions taken by the nurses.  Each of the Link Types have different functionality when implemented and need to be applied appropriately based on orders and patient situations.  The link types are:


  *   Followed-by: allows a provider to enter medication sequentially.
  *   OR: allow the nurse, at the time of administration, to select the appropriate order for the patient.
  *   AND: indicates the orders will be completed at the same time or in an off-setting administration.
