[epicproviders] Effective 12/4/2023: Ordering Echocardiograms

Inpatient Providers


Effective Monday, December 4, 2023, providers will no longer be able to order a complete echocardiogram without approval, if one has been performed within the last 30 days. Providers will be asked to change the study to a limited examination specifying the clinical reason for the study (example: AssessLV wall motion, assess left ventricular ejection fraction, evaluate pericardial effusion).  The examination will be tailored to the clinical question.  If a complete study is needed, a cardiologist or fellow in the echo lab will need to be contacted for approval.
