Attention Inpatient Orthopedic & Neurosurgery Providers

Effective Wednesday November 19, 2025: in effort to reduce / eliminate surgical site infections a new preoperative workup order is available in Epic for neurosurgery and orthopedics. The Orthopedic Neurosurgery Spine Fusion Infection Prevention Bundle order set is available from Prep for Surgery, as well as in other ordering activities.
Updated Content

  *   HbA1c lab measurement with intraoperative glucose checks when abnormal.
  *   MRSA nares assay with perioperative antibiotic coverage if positive.
  *   CHG wipes for all patients prior to surgery.
  *   Redosing of antibiotics during surgery, as appropriate for BMI.
