[epicproviders] Effective 6/25/2026: New Thyroid Testing Order Panel & OPA

Attention: Emergency & Inpatient Providers

Based on a QI initiative to promote subsequent thyroid testing in hospitalized patient, rather than blanketed testing, modifications are being made which are approved by the Department of Endocrinology.

This targeted and stepwise approach to thyroid testing is recommended rather than ordering multiple tests simultaneously. Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) should be the initial screening test as it serves as the most reliable marker of thyroid function in most cases.

Effective Thursday June 25, 2026, A new order panel [O462703] Thyroid Testing is introduced for ED and IP Providers. Placing individual thyroid orders will trigger an OPA suggesting details to make an informed decision.
