SUBJECT:   Monthly Testing of East Wing and Gamma Knife

Nurse Call - "Code Blue" System


The next monthly test is scheduled for Wednesday, November 17, 2021.


To comply with current regulations, the Physical Plant Electronics personnel will be conducting a monthly test of the "Code Blue" portion of the nurse call system in the East Wing and Gamma Knife.

This test will affect all patient headwalls in the East Wing (Cardiopulmonary ICU, Neurology Surgical Unit, Cardio-Pul-Med Surge Unit, Intermediate Care, Med Surge CCU, Burn Unit and Gamma Knife).

EAST WING AND GAMMA KNIFE - "CODE BLUE" TEST PROCEDURE:

1.                   Physical Plant personnel will report to nurses' station to announce that they will be conducting "Code Blue" testing and to see if there are any rooms that have special restrictions.  The test will be announced over the paging system fifteen minutes prior to the test (4:45 a.m.).
2.             Plant personnel will then proceed with a test - starting with first room in the unit and proceeding down the hall until finished with the unit.  When the unit is finished, notification will be given to the appropriate nursing staff.
3.             In order, Plant Electronics Mechanics will proceed with testing until all units are tested.  Order to be as follows:
                - Cardiopulmonary ICU
                - Neurology Medical Surgical Unit
                - Cardiopulmonary Medical Surgical Unit
                - Intermediate Care Unit
                - Medical/Surgical ICU
                - Burn Care Unit
                - Gamma Knife

4.             When all testing is completed and all nursing staff is notified, the test will then be over.  Completion of the test will be announced over the paging system.

NOTE:          To comply with current regulations, this testing must be done.  Any rooms that cannot be tested at this time must be noted, along with reason why and an attempt will be made to test at a later date.
