Good Morning,

For those of you that were with us last year we completed a 9 session ECHO surrounding Alzheimer’s and Dementia care. This geriatrics clinic will focus on different, more broad, geriatric issues such as Cardiology, Feeding/Swallowing, and Endocrine/Osteoporosis, just to name a few.

For those of you that didn’t get a chance to join us before below is a brief summary of ECHO:

Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is a teleconferencing, case based, all teach, all learn platform for primary care providers to increase knowledge and expand treatment and management skills. This is accomplished by a specialist or “hub team” providing a 20-30 minute didactic presentation on a topic and primary care providers bringing de-identified cases for consultation. Primary care providers then learn from the recommendations given by the specialist and other primary care providers on the call while specialists learn from the primary care providers. ECHO aims to improve care by having patients be treated in their own communities by the primary care providers that know them best. We encourage the participation of MDs, DOs, NPs, PAs, and medical students.

The Project ECHO program at SUNY Upstate currently has 4 teleECHO clinics. These clinics include: geriatrics, multi-specialty pediatrics, toxicology, and endocrinology/diabetes.

Our ECHOs run from 12-1 one Thursday a month. Please see the attached sheet for topics, schedule and call in information.

If you would like to invite anyone to join our ECHO you are welcome to do so.
