[LabUpdates] Laboratory Formulary Committee Updates - IgG Synthesis Index and Oligoclonal Banding Order Panels, Theophylline and Phenobarbital testing

Medicine and laboratory testing are constantly changing. In an attempt to keep us all on the same page, the Laboratory Formulary Committee will be regularly sending out emails with recent updates and guidances. Below are the short versions of relevant changes and attached are more in-depth guidances.

IgG Synthesis/Index CSF & Serum and Oligoclonal Banding CSF & Serum Order Panels: To facilitate correct ordering, collection, and reporting, two new order panels went live in Epic August 25th, 2022.  The order panel for IgG Synthesis/Index includes orders for both the CSF (LAB2737) and Serum (LAB9277) IgG synthesis to allow for appropriate interpretation of the results.  The order panel for Oligoclonal Banding includes orders for both the CSF (LAB9205) and serum (LAB9278) oligoclonal banding to allow for appropriate interpretation of the results.  Ordering of testing for CSF for either analyte should only be ordered using these order panels.

Theophylline and Phenobarbital testing: Beginning 9/1/2022, testing for Theophylline level (LAB35) and Phenobarbital level (LAB30) will be performed at Downtown.  Samples drawn at Community Campus will be transported to Downtown for the analysis to be performed.  Please see the attached guidance for more details.
