[LabUpdates] Laboratory Formulary Committee Updates - change in sendout molecular testing

Medicine and laboratory testing are constantly changing. In an attempt to keep us all on the same page, the Laboratory Formulary Committee will be regularly sending out emails with recent updates and guidances.  A short description of the change is below, with more details available in the attached guidance.



Send-out Molecular Testing Change:  Molecular Send-out requests are now available under both Molecular Diagnostics, Oncology [LABAP2707] and Molecular Diagnostics, Genetics [LABAP2706] in Epic. This process will eliminate the need for using Miscellaneous Lab Test [LAB4116] for Molecular requests.

  *   Testing requested for hereditary diseases and conditions should use Molecular Diagnostic, Genetics [LABAP2706] order.
  *   Testing requested for oncologic diseases should use Molecular Diagnostics, Oncology [LABAP2707]
  *   Providers have the option to select Send Out Reference Lab in each order.
  *   The test requested name/description is required.
  *   If testing requires consent forms, these must be completed by the provider and sent to Molecular Laboratory with the specimens.
