[LabUpdates] Laboratory Formulary Committee Updates - Alzheimer's testing change and Maternal cell contamination testing

Medicine and laboratory testing are constantly changing.  The Laboratory Formulary Committee regularly sends out emails with new updates and changes.



Maternal Cell Contamination Testing: Starting January 8th 2026, Upstate Molecular Diagnostics Lab is offering the Maternal Cell Contamination (LABAP2860) testing.  This testing is ordered alongside the Cytogenetics Microarray Test (LABAP2845) for pregnant patients when indicated.  Please see the attached guidance for more details.



In-House Alzheimer's Disease Testing: Starting February 5th 2026, Upstate will offer in-house testing for the most common Alzheimer's disease biomarkers in CSF using the existing Epic order: Alzheimer's Disease Evaluation, CSF (LAB9840). Please see the attached guidance for more details.
