[LabUpdates] Laboratory Formulary Committee Updates - HIV testing at Community Campus

Medicine and laboratory testing are constantly changing.  The Laboratory Formulary Committee regularly sends out emails with new updates and changes.



HIV testing at Community: The HIV screening assay HIV Rapid Combo Kit Scrn (COMMUNITY CAMPUS ONLY) (LAB8938) was recently recognized to have interference by biotin in patients taking very high amounts of this vitamin.  Starting March 4th, 2026, this test will be updated to highlight this potential confounder and to suggest alternative testing performed at Downtown (which is not sensitive to biotin).
