[LabUpdates] Laboratory Formulary Committee Updates - PAP Smear Order Change

Medicine and laboratory testing are constantly changing.  The Laboratory Formulary Committee regularly sends out emails with new updates and changes.



PAP Smear Order Change: Per federal regulations, current testing for Pap Smear CANNOT be performed on samples that are collected by the patient.  On March 5th, 2026, the Epic order for Cytology, Gynecological, Vaginal/Cervical PAP (LABAP2713) will be updated to include a required question of how the sample was collected, with alerts if "Patient Collected" is selected.
