Subject: Required Network Outages This Week

There will be total network outages this week in each of the three hospital buildings. Each downtime is scheduled to last 30 minutes.

  * Upstate Community Hospital will be Tuesday, December 14, at 5:30 AM.**
  * UH Downtown East Wing/East Tower will be Wednesday, December 15, at 6:00 AM.
  * UH Downtown North, South and West Wings will be Thursday, December 16, at 6:00 AM.
Please see the following for impact and procedures:

  * During each building's downtime, the phone system, all networked computers and devices (both wired and wireless), and Vocera will be offline and not operational.
  * Per current Clinical Procedures, when phone system failure occurs, RED PHONES are used to request a code activation.
  * RED PHONE posters will be placed on the units by Nurse Managers for use during the downtime.
  * Philips patient bedside monitoring and telemetry will still operate at the bedside, as well as at the central station. Telemetry alarms will not go to Vocera on units affected by the downtime.
  * Massimo will only alarm at the bedside.
  * Elevator phones will be out in the affected building, so no Non-Emergent transports using the elevators should be made in the affected building during the downtime.
  * Pharmacy, Respiratory, Lab, Physical Plant and UPD are all aware of these downtimes and have downtime procedures in place.
  * P-Tube systems will not function during the downtime.
** On Tuesday morning, December 14, Kronos and Self-Serve will also be shut down to all locations in order to support the Community Hospital Network Upgrade. These systems will be taken offline one-half hour before the network outage and will resume operation within one-half hour after the network is back online.

Thank you,

Dave Hanson, Director - IMT Network Services and Security
