Dear Students,

We know the transition to 3rd-year can be both exhilarating and yet stressful, especially because it happens right on the heels of your Step 1 experience. We strongly encourage you to reach out for help if you find yourself struggling during this transition, or at any point in the future.
There are several ways you can do this:

  1.
All third-year students may access televideo counseling/therapy services through Upstate’s partnership with BetterMynd<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.bettermynd.com/__;!!GobTDDpD7A!IabbicMpqz_0t0hqc1iJNj2EplkCGKx4glM9yipv4Qfn5BpPHZnjXtP19F8eYO5ZAJJJK4K5t-abnJ9TpuV8Wx2wiga1BA$ >. If you’re interested in services, register here<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://login.bettermynd.com/realms/BetterMynd/protocol/openid-connect/registrations?client_id=bettermynd-web&response_type=code&scope=openid*20email&redirect_uri=https:**Aapp.bettermynd.com*__;JS8vLw!!GobTDDpD7A!IabbicMpqz_0t0hqc1iJNj2EplkCGKx4glM9yipv4Qfn5BpPHZnjXtP19F8eYO5ZAJJJK4K5t-abnJ9TpuV8Wx3t0Xm9BQ$ > with your upstate.edu email address. It only takes a few minutes to get started! Students can search for therapists based on clinical specialty, demographics, and state of licensure (a good option for students rotating or studying outside of NYS, or for those). BetterMynd is an especially good option for students who prefer evening hours or who don't want to use their time off to attend appointments. Students are initially allocated 8 sessions each, but can request more sessions whenever needed. All sessions are free and confidential.
  2.
Students may schedule a consultation with the Student Counseling Service<https://www.upstate.edu/currentstudents/support/scc/index.php > by calling 315-464-3120. Binghamton Clinical Campus students may attend appointments with SCS virtually. SCS provides ongoing counseling, therapy, and, if needed, medication consultation/management. There are no session limits and your services are free and confidential.

  3.
Binghamton Clinical Campus students may access in-person clinical services through our agreement with Binghamton University’s Student Counseling Service<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.binghamton.edu/counseling/__;!!GobTDDpD7A!IabbicMpqz_0t0hqc1iJNj2EplkCGKx4glM9yipv4Qfn5BpPHZnjXtP19F8eYO5ZAJJJK4K5t-abnJ9TpuV8Wx1cV34z1A$ >. Services are free and confidential. Please identify yourself as an Upstate medical student when you call (607-777-2772).
  4. Students in crisis should call 988 for immediate support or call 844-287-6963 to access BetterMynd’s 24/7 crisis support line. These services are free and confidential.

Wishing you all the best during this transition and beyond!
