In recognition of Trauma Awareness Month, Upstate Trauma Services invites you to TraumaFest 2026—our annual event celebrating the teams, first responders, and community partners behind exceptional trauma care.
Join us Tuesday, May 19 from 10 AM–2 PM on Elizabeth Blackwell Street for an interactive outdoor event featuring 23 programs and partners. Highlights include hands-on activities like airway management, a fire extinguisher simulator, emergency preparedness demos, the Bleeding Control Challenge, and an immersive brain safety exhibit.
Enjoy food trucks, giveaways, and the TraumaFest Passport activity for a chance to win prizes.
This free event is open to all Upstate staff and partners—we hope to see you there!

Center for Nursing Research Journal Club is May 6
The Center for Nursing Research Journal Club will be held May 6th at 11:30-12:20 via Teams. The club meeting will feature an article by Carol Vidal, MD, PhD, assistant professor at the John Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. Article title: Health Care Workers and Burnout: A Cross-Sectional Study.

The purpose of this study was to explore associations between workers’ attitudes toward trauma-informed care, worries about workplace violence, and burnout through a survey administered as part of a public health initiative.  All are welcome!
