Cases for Discussion

  1.  A 14 month old child is found with their grandmothers Tramadol(r) 200 mg XR tablet in their mouth. They were under a table with an open bottle.
  2.  1 65 year old male presents to the ED with a history of ingesting mushrooms that he foraged yesterday. He ate the mushrooms at 0900 and developed vomiting and diarrhea at 2300. He also reports ingesting another mushroom 2 days ago. Samples of the mushroom are brought to the ED.
  3.  A caller reports giving a 6 year old child  5 mL of Delsym(r) . About 1.5 hours later, the bottle is found open and the child appears to have glazed eyes and is sleepy, ataxic and hallucinating. Upon inspection of the bottle, she approximates 2 teaspoonfuls left in a bottle that she approximates had 2.5 ounces when she gave the initial dose.
