Cases for Discussion

  1.  A 58 year old male with a PMH of seizures, bipolar disorder, PTSD and BPH who came to the ED due to seizures. Family noted patient to have "strange speech and confusion earlier in the evening. Vital signs: 160/103, HR 114, O2 sat 92% on RA, RR 29. On exam, patient is unresponsive to voice and withdraws from painful stimuli. (Rachel's case)
  2.  A 2 year old male is brought to the ED after being found unresponsive and apneic at home. He was given naloxone prior to arrival and began crying. Vitals are as follows: BP 86/43, HR 130, RR 22, O2 96% on 2L
  3.  A 55 year old patient with a history of bipolar personality disorder presents after taking a number of medications at home. Home medications include Seroquel, Depakote, lorazepam, and levothyroxine. The patient appears somewhat lethargic. Vitals are as follows: BP 145/80, HR 85, RR 12, O2 96%, T 36.4
