[unyoc-planning] UNYOC Keynote Speakers - we need some!

Good afternoon!

I’m using this email from Jode Millman as inspiration to follow up with all of you about UNYOC Keynote speakers.

When we meet on March 15th, I hope we can have a productive discussion about keynote speakers and CE classes.  Ideally the meeting will conclude with a list of names, and a draft of an invitation letter for 2024 and 2025.

I created a document in the UNYOC Drive for collecting Keynote Speaker ideas:

Lorraine: Hi and please excuse my delay in getting back to you. I would be interested in presenting at the 2025 virtual conference. I developed the Writers Law School in 2020 when I was asked to speak by the Sisters In Crime about copyrights. Since then, I have prepared two presentations—Protecting your Legal Rights regarding Copyrights, and the new program Writers and Ai.

The concepts are applicable to anyone who writes, researches or publishes work of fiction or non-fiction.

I have attached my resume, the "pitches" for each program and the hand-out materials for your review. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Jode, it’s a pleasure to meet you – albeit electronically. As you’ve likely heard from Liz, the UNYOC annual conference usually takes place during the last week of October.

In addition to being an author, she’s an attorney. You can read all about her and the “The Writer’s Law School” she developed on her blog.
I heard Jode present last November on copyright. At the time, she briefly mentioned AI, but said she was designing a presentation for librarians on AI.
She is an engaging, knowledgeable instructor and I immediately thought of her as a potential presenter for UNYOC! While she is not available for the 2024 conference, she gave me her permission to forward her name for next year if we are interested.
I mentioned the tentative 2026 conference plans to the other librarians. A very positive response!
