Thank you, Sandy, for adding me to the list serve and thank you Rachel for beginning the conversation about sending out information regarding our programs. I truly appreciated meeting everyone last night and cannot speak highly enough about the Grand Rounds presentation regarding Gender Equity in Medicine presented by Drs. Freemont, Botash and Khoury.

I am attaching brochures for the Child and Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Services Program at SUNY Upstate. Currently we work with teens between 12-18 that are high acuity (suicidal, self-harming, in and out of ED's and inpatient hospitalization, emotionally dysregulated and engaging in impulsive behaviors). We have plans to extend our age down to 6. As of now there are two tracks. The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (AIOP) is a 10-week intensive program that includes 9 clinical contact hours per week (group therapy, individual therapy, parent / guardian skills group and med management). The second program is our Dialectical Behavior Therapy - Adolescent Comprehensive program. It is longer, 6 months, and involves a multi-family skills group, individual therapy and medication management. Both programs require parent / guardian participation and involve family therapy and parent coaching. Dr. Freemont was instrumental in the creation of these programs, and they are just another reflection of how devoted she is to this population and how many wonderful things she has done to help create change.

Looking forward to more opportunities to meet again,

Jessica Costosa-Umina, Ph.D.

It was an honor to join you for the Women in Medicine and Law Dinner! I loved sharing the evening with incredible women. Thanks so much for inviting me and thank you all for what you do!

I meant to mention that another way to make a difference in children’s mental health is to share time with them! Attached is information about the Book Buddies program that we offer in five Syracuse elementary schools. We would love to have you join us in supporting kids in grades K-3 in strengthening their reading skills. I promise it will be one of your favorite hours of the week!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Warm wishes,

Nan

Yesterday’s grand rounds on Gender Equity in Academic Medicine was excellent! FYI we will share a link to the recording when that becomes available.

Also, see photos (attached) from last night’s Women in Medicine and Law Dinner at the Collegian Hotel!

Yesterday was a good day for WIMS at Upstate!

Let’s continue this trend in order to build better tomorrows for all!
